Out of Hours Emergency Dental Treatment

Relief of dental pain clinics are for the treatment of dental emergencies only.

For example:

The clinics do not have facilities for permanent restoration of lost crowns, bridges or denture repairs.

Belfast City Hospital – Relief of Dental Pain Clinic

A Relief of Dental Pain Service is available to anyone who requires emergency dental care. It operates at the Dental Out-patients Department Wing F, Outpatients Department on the Ground Floor of the Belfast City Hospital.

This clinic is strictly for dental emergencies.

Opening Hours

7:00pm to 9.15pm every evening
and additionally
10:00am to 12.15pm on Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays.

Patients are reminded that NHS Charges apply to this service (unless you are exempt).

The clinic operates a system of prioritization based on clinical necessity and so patients are advised to attend early.

Outside of these clinic intake times, patients that are suffering from swelling, uncontrolled bleeding or trauma should contact Ulster Hospital Emergency Department, or for other conditions please contact your own dentist during normal surgery hours.

Craigavon Area Hospital

A Relief of Dental Pain Service is available to anyone who requires emergency dental care. It operates at the Emergency Department, Craigavon Area Hospital, 68 Lurgan Road, Portadown.

Opening Hours:

7.00 pm to 9.00 pm every evening
and additionally
10.00am to 12.00 noon on Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays

There is a process of triage to ensure that patients who require treatment urgently are seen as a priority, the remaining patients will be seen in order of the time of arrival at the clinic.

Patients should attend as early in a session as possible and bring their medical card. Only emergency or relief of pain treatment will be provided and normal health service charges will apply to those who are not exempt. No appointment is required.

Dalriada Urgent Care

A relief of dental pain service is available, for dental advice and treatment if necessary, to anyone who requires emergency dental care.

It operates at Relief of Dental Pain Clinic, 20 Larne Road Link, Ballymena, BT42 3AG

Opening Hours:

Monday to Friday: Evening sessions are 6.00pm – 9.00pm
Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday are 9.00am – 12.00 noon

If you require this service you will need to telephone (028) 2566 3510 for a dentist to triage your call. The dentist may provide you with advice over the telephone or invite you to attend for an appointment. Please do not attend the centre without phoning first.

Only emergency or relief of pain treatment will be provided and normal Health service charges will apply to those who are not exempt. Patients should bring their medical card.
