The Health and Social Care Board in conjunction with the Public Health Agency have produced a new guide for visitors to Northern Ireland who wish to access health services.
The nine-page document covers entitlement to services, emergency treatment, the role of pharmacists, how to access GP services, GP Out-of-Hours arrangements and dental services.
Phone numbers and addresses have been included for key Trust sites along with clickable links which take readers direct to relevant information including, for example, the pharmacy on-call rota.
The guide has been developed with visitors to this year’s Open Championship in mind. Upwards of 215,000 people will visit the North Coast for the golf event which is being hosted at Royal Portrush Golf Club for the first time in almost 70 years. Broadcast coverage of The Open will reach approximately 85 million people in over 600 million households worldwide.
The HSCB has been working with the R&A, who organise the event, and statutory bodies to ensure that service users are not unduly affected by the influx of people and vehicles into the area.
A full traffic and transport plan has been put in place to ensure fans can travel with ease and local residents and businesses are not overly inconvenienced.
The ‘Accessing Health Services’ document is available to download here as a pdf. A social media campaign to promote the guide is underway alongside notifications reminding patients who have repeat prescriptions to order these in advance of both the 12th July holiday period and the Open Championship.
