Belfast City Hall was today once again host to the annual Social Work Awards 2015 celebrating the excellence in Social Work practice in Northern Ireland.
The Awards are led by the Health and Social Care Board (HSCB) to recognise and reward the efforts of social workers and highlight the positive impact of the profession on individuals, families and communities in Northern Ireland.
The talent demonstrated today at the City Hall was second to none with the deserved professionals taking home awards across nine categories –
With over 5,000 social workers currently practicing in Northern Ireland, 90 social work teams and individuals were nominated for the awards and 24 shortlisted as finalists. Fionnuala McAndrew, Director of Social Care and Children at the Health and Social Care Board congratulated the award winners;
“I am privileged to work with so many talented and hard working social work professionals who go beyond the call of duty to make a difference to the lives of adults, young people and children in our communities right across Northern Ireland. Well done to all of you awarded here today!”
Those nominated for the awards work for a number of bodies and organisations across the country including the Health and Social Care Trusts, the Probation Board, the Education Sector and in a range of other statutory voluntary and community organisations.
